We hope that the Pleural Research Day 2021 will be a face to face event. If that is the case, we will enable the booking nearer the time.

Alternatively, we may host a virtual event.

If you are a member, please log in before booking a place to benefit from a discounted price.

We will send updates about the Research Day through a mailing list. Membership emails will be sent through a separate list. (This is also by ‘double-opt-in’ at registration).

Once again we would like to invite researchers to submit their scientific work presenting original research. (Submissions which have been recently presented at other conferences/events will also be accepted).

Abstracts will be reviewed and selected for oral or poster presentation.  Winners will be selected and prizes awarded on the day.

Submission guidelines:

  • Abstracts should be submitted in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling
  • Your abstract should be no more than 250 words (in the abstract body) excluding the title
  • The title of the abstract should introduce the hypothesis that is being tested
  • You should include the following sections:
  • Introduction – outline the background to the research and why this research is important
  • Methods – how was your data generated
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • References should be included
  • One table and one figure can be submitted
  • Conflict of interest should be declared

Abstracts may be submitted at

Alternatively, if you experience any technical difficulties, please submit your work by emailing: [email protected]

We will acknowledge the receipt of your submission within 3 working days. If you have not heard from us, please contact us at [email protected] or on 01865 227612.

The programme will be published nearer the time.

Although we are unable to provide any accommodation on site, there are a number of options available for those who might need an overnight stay in Oxford when attending the Pleural Research Day.

For any queries relating to the Pleural Research Day 2021, please contact Magda Laskawiec-Szkonter at [email protected]

More information to follow shortly.

The annual Pleural Research Day is a fantastic opportunity to learn about current and upcoming research studies and to gain insight into research that might inform future studies in pleural disease. It is organised by Dr Eleanor Mishra and Prof Naj Rahman.
